Speaku is built so your voice stays on your computer. This notice explains what the app — for Mac and for Windows — and this website do with data. Last updated: November 2026.

The app

Audio and transcripts

Speech is recognised on your computer. Dictation audio is transcribed and then discarded; meeting recordings and transcripts are stored in ~/Library/Application Support/Speaku on a Mac and in %LocalAppData%\Speaku on Windows, and nowhere else unless you set up a storage bucket of your own. There is no account, and no data is collected by us.

Language models you configure

If you set up a language model to polish dictations or write meeting notes, the text of the dictation or transcript is sent to the service you chose, under that service's terms and privacy policy. Speaku shows where text will be sent before you save such a setting. If you use a model running on your computer, no text leaves it.

Downloads and updates

Speech and speaker models are downloaded from Hugging Face and GitHub when you choose them. Once a day, Speaku asks our update server (speaku.app and STACKIT Object Storage) whether a newer version exists. These requests reveal your IP address to the server answering them, like any download; they contain nothing about you or your use of the app.

No analytics

Speaku contains no analytics, tracking or advertising code, and does not report crashes or usage to us.

This website

speaku.app and the downloads of Speaku are served from STACKIT Object Storage and STACKIT CDN in Germany. STACKIT processes the IP address of visitors to deliver the pages and files and to keep the service secure. This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics.

Contact and your rights

The controller responsible under the GDPR is the operator of Speaku, reachable at support@speaku.app. You can ask what data about you we hold, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its processing, and complain to a data protection supervisory authority. As we do not collect data through the app, a request will usually be about an email you sent us: write to support@speaku.app.
